Tidbits about Miss Olivia

It's 2 am and I can't sleep. I got a new report on Olivia today so I thought I'd share with you a few of the things we now know about her. It's pretty entertaining!

The orphanage director named her Ming Qing (pronounced Ming Ching).
She speaks Guiliu dialect as well as Mandarin.
She can speak simple sentences like "going shopping". (that's my girl!)
She likes fried food, cookies and candy!!!
She drinks juice and milk.
She likes to go shopping :), taking walks and dancing in front of the tv (this is so cool because I got her the Dora dancepad)
Her personality: Extroverted and active and sometimes a bit obstinate. Oh Boy!
To calm her when crying: Hold her, give her snacks and turn on the tv. In other words, give her what she wants when she cries. :)
She still takes a bottle. She eats formula and Rice Congee.
She eats the first half of her bowl by herself. Then she wants to be fed. She eats while playing.
She sleeps with the foster mother. (so much for her beautiful bed!)
She plays on the bed until she falls asleep around 10 pm.
For her nap the foster mother holds her in her arms until she falls asleep then lays her on the bed.
She sucks her fingers (like Lili did).
She is potty trained and does not wear a diaper. (oh how I hope this is true).
She takes a bath at night but is afraid of the shower.

She sounds like she is just full of personality and has her foster mom wrapped around her little finger! This should be an interesting few days. I'm excited and nervous. Just 12 more hours!!

LOVE that report! and it's nice it actually gives you good information -like "she eats the first part of the bowl of congee by herself and then wants you to feed her"...that will help you out SO much!

You don't know me, but I remember Olivia from AHH's SN list. My daughter was on their list in
2006. She is home now and thriving. I will be checking in to see how your little one is doing. She is absolutely lovely and it sounds like she has a wonderful foster mother. Best of luck.

What is with the "eating while they play" thing anyway? That was on Sarah's paper as well. When we visited the foster family, sure enough, they followed her around with a spoon and can of food! Too funny. Sounds like you have a fun little girl. Oh, I'm glad she is still on the bottle! That is a tender time between them and mommy! Sarah was still on one at 22 months...I was thrilled. She, too, was potty trained.

Looking forward to the next post.

You are in my thoughts and prayers! My Lillie was also listed as strong willed (acutally naughty) and it was quite true...but she is an absolute joy and Olivia will be too! I can't wait to see you all together!

Wow, congratulations! We adopted our daughter from the Guangxi province in Sept! We stayed at the Majestic hotel in Nanning - I'm so excited to follow along and see you together with your daughter! I remember it like yesterday, so nervous; but it all worked out!! Good luck - and bring a bag of snacks and toys - it worked wonders for us!

Do you have her yet?? Oh my gosh, I cannot wait for pics!!! Sounds like she is spoiled rotten but I always say that is what kids are for...so keep it up. Like you said earlier...the night before we met Annslee my thoughts were also with her foster mom..it must be so difficult.

I hope you are having a WONDERFUL day with your daughter : )

I was laying in the bed and you and Olivia come to my mind. I haven't had much computer time lately, but I had to get up to see if you had Olivia yet. You are in my prayers as well as Olivia and her foster mom. Reading what you said about her she sounds alot like Ana Claire. The way they described her to us.
Can't wait to see photos of the two of you together.

I am FINALLY checking in. Had a retreat this weekend and was without a PC.

Such an extensive report and so much about her. Hope it'll be helpful as you transition sweet Olivia to your home.

Gotta read more of your posts!!!

Hugs,
Lisa
